Galena, IL -- The NRA Foundation awarded the Galena High School Trap Shooting Team a grant providing shotgun shells for the 2023 weekly competitions and the State Trap meet. "This allows us to participate in a sport we enjoy without having to stress about the money to cover the cost of shells." said team members, "We appreciate that the NRA foundation is supporting our growing program."
The Galena High School Clay Target League Trap shooting team started in the Fall of 2020 and continues to grow. Two seniors, Chase Dittmar and Sam Keene Wienen, graduated after the Spring 2023 season, and 5 new members were added to the roster, joining the 7 returners. Our team competed in the state shoot in Bunker Hill, IL, on June 3, 2023. The team has grown to twelve members this fall season with anticipated continued growth.
This grant has enabled Galena Trap shooting athletes to have reduced expenses for them and their families throughout the Spring and Fall Trap seasons. All high school students, no matter their grade or ability, are welcome and encouraged to join the team.
